Focused on handmade and healthful eats, Blackberry Market hopes to bring people together with food. As Wendell Berry would state it, “The table is the place where you connect and belong.” Blackberry Market is a new fast casual restaurant located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois that offers both dine-in and to-go meals, a locally-sourced marketplace, and event catering. Working with the owners of Blackberry Market from the very beginning, Rule29 was able to inject their personal style into every aspect of the design.
Starting with the identity, Rule29 created a logo and print materials that reflected the community-centric, “by-hand” atmosphere. From there, both interior and exterior signage, artwork, and print materials (including menus, hand out cards, gift certificates, etc.), were designed. Collaborating with an interior designer, Rule29 also helped create a space and color plan that sets the tone for the customer experience.
Using a bold color palette juxtaposed with natural, textural elements, R29 helped create an overall experience that is warm, inviting, and eclectic. Bright pops of chartreuse make for an unexpected and unique accent color against the brand’s deep violet hue. Swirling circle patterns echo the logomark. A wall of Instagram photos, taken by members of the community, and printed on wood panels makes for a interesting art installation in the main dining room. Every detail was carefully executed, with the goal of creating a unique visual experience for anyone who connected with the Blackberry Market brand.
