Rule29 at #HOWLive 2016
Our Creative Director, Justin Ahrens, spoke at HOW Design Live in Atlanta this May. Justin’s talk was titled “Branding Passion: How to create a compelling campaign or project for social change.”
It focused on how design can be used to create positive social change. Creatives have the ability to shift perspective and to create impact. But making this impact can’t only happen with passion – there needs to be a strategic and defined process to carry the concept to real successful outcomes while not overwhelming you.
In his session, Justin went through the Rule29 approach and how projects like Wheels4Water has helped bring safe water to thousands of people in Uganda. The end goal was to provide tips on how to do your own event and see how doing these types of projects can change you, your company and how YOU see the world. Would you like a closer look? Check out the presentation!

Wheels4Water 2016 has new goal and a new Website!
Over the course of the last two years, Wheels4Water (a Rule29 Give initiative) in partnership with Lifewater International has helped more than 3,400 people in sub-Saharan Africa get safe water for life. We’ve not only seen lives changed through this work, we’ve seen communities transformed. And this year, we’re taking it even further. Over the next year, our goal is to provide over 1,000 Ugandans with safe water and sanitation for life. Only this time, we’re asking anyone to take part in making a difference! To do that we have launched a new Wheels4Water website in partnership with factor1 to provide all the details and tools for anyone to donate, spread the word or hop on a bike and join us.
Please go to the Wheels4Water site to learn more, watch this video we created to see some of the reality we are trying to help change, and see some images from our last trip to Africa to see the impact of this ride first hand.

Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay
Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB), a nonprofit organization supporting U.S. veterans, and presenting sponsor, Microsoft, hosted the second annual Old Glory Relay race from September 11 to November 8, 2015. 59 teams of runners were charged with moving a single American flag across the country – in a 3,540-mile journey from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. Along the way, running teams capture the “Faces of Old Glory” – stories of empathy, action and impact – by sharing photos and videos on social media using #OldGloryRelay. Rule29, who has been with Team RWB since its beginning, had the honor to help brand the relay and create a microsite to capture the progress as the runners work their way across the country. For more details or to support the relay and Team RWB go here. #DesignForGood
