Automation Should Be Easy, Right?

2 minutes

Selecting a marketing automation platform that is right for you may seem like a heavy lift, but don’t worry. Deep breaths. You got this, and we are here to help get you started with some pointers about selecting the right platform for you so you can work smarter, not harder.

Make your list, check them twice!

Having a clean email list is soooOOoooOOOoOOOO (yes, that many o’s are necessary) important for a couple of reasons. 1. You pay for who you send to depending on the plan you are on. So having an email list cluttered with spam emails can rack up your bill. Who doesn’t want to save money, right? 2. With a clean list, you gain a better understanding of who is interacting with your content and who is not. If a list is filled with inactive or potentially spam accounts, analytics can be inaccurate and it will be hard to see value in the emails you send out. 3. Reputation is everything. Your email provider can actually begin to suppress your content if you are sending to suspicious accounts, and that’s just no fun.

P.S. buying lists seems like a good idea in practice but can fill your database with emails that are inactive or spam. We recommend growing your list organically or through paid advertising by offering an incentive to sign up.

FUN with marketing FUNnels

A lot of the stress from setting up a marketing automation campaign is understanding what content should go to who and when. Well hey, we were able to summarize that in just one sentence! It can’t be that hard then, right?! Right! We like your attitude, bucko. To help gain a better understanding of how to put together impactful and organized marketing funnels, we put together this handy dandy worksheet just for YOU. Download that here!

Chose a platform that works for you, not the other way around.

There’s platforms for everything nowadays. We encourage you to pick a platform that has the right functionalities for you. Looking for something more robust for landing pages and lead generation? Check out platforms such as Hubspot and Sharpspring. Or if you’d prefer something easier, a template builder that you can send out content as you need, we recommend the tried and true Mailchimp or Constant Contact. There are some limitations there but for an in-house marketing team of one, that is a great start.

Email marketing shouldn’t feel like another grueling process. With the right planning and platform, you can create a content schedule that is evergreen that also converts.
