The Story of Code
For the most recent iteration of their website, Floodlight Design was looking to highlight their best work in a way that really told a story. The engaging visuals and reveal elements, including the navigation and newsletter signup, were designed to engage users – presenting them with an opportunity for exploration. Working with a combination of photography and stylized iconography inspired by their Code to Live By book and microsite, the website showcases not only the work, but the Floodlight story, process, and culture. A strong sense of hierarchy is achieved with the use of horizontal bands, which span the width of the browser. The open feel elevates the site to higher level of sophistication, and allows for large-scale portfolio imagery. Overall, the result is a website that captures the contemporary nature of Floodlight while holding onto the playful spirit of the “small, but mighty” development firm.
