Revitalizing the Heart of Downtown Vegas

1 minutes

A few months ago, we had the opportunity to travel with our friends David Gould and Joe Cilek to the heart of downtown Las Vegas (the old downtown) to be introduced to the Downtown Project, a community-driven project headed up by Zappos founder, Tony Hsieh.

The Downtown Project is a community-wide initiative to reinvigorate the center of Las Vegas (which has fallen into disrepair since businesses moved predominately to the Vegas Strip) with new business, real estate, a tech fund and education.  The DTP aims to transform Downtown Las Vegas into the most community-focused large city in the world. A significant part of the project incorporates education and our good friend David Gould was brought in to help devise a program that would allow for adaptable higher education programs to not only learn from the innovation taking place in the downtown area, but influence it. David and the DTP team came to Rule29 to be part of this conversation and we could not be more excited! As the education program continues to take form, we will be adding our creative sensibilities and capabilities to make it an outstanding and desirable thing for students and the community to participate in.

More info on this to come, so stay tuned! We’re excited to share more about this project soon and to share about the continuing success of the Downtown Project!
